You are HERE!

Shall I introduce myself? It feels as if it's been ages.
And yet it feels as if time has flown.

We are HERE!
The Hendersons have relocated to Virginia...it's the state for Lovers you know?
(Remind me: I have to scan in and share a picture for you all. It's a picture of my twin
sister and I (about 4 years old) in "Virginia is for Lovers" t-shirts. Little did we know I would
be a NOVA (Northern VA) resident in my adult years.)

But yes, like I said, we are HERE!

I won't scare you with the details of my PCS. Except to say that if you don't know about:

MOVE.MIL and the assorted DPS web sites,
Military Homefront's Plan my move,
AHRN.com,
AAFES' Exchange Home Services, and Mobile Services Center,
USAA's Movers Advantage and now HomeCircle.com,
and of course MilitaryAvenue.com and MilitaryByOwner.com

you should check them out BEFORE YOU MOVE. They helped us out a lot, once I caught on.

Let me know if a normal google search doesn't get you to the sites above. I'll send you the link.

Here's a link for you right now though: http://awtr.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html.
If you're new to your area, i.e. you just PCS'd, let's concentrate on the next step, blooming!

Plant Seeds, Add Water, and Sprout! That's what we've done the past few weeks.

Upon recommendation from Joanna at AttaGirlGifts.com who used to live here, but is now in CA, we checked the block on her "must-see". We went to see the Arlington Cemetary (not the whole thing), but the
Marine Silent Drill Platoon in their last summer performance. This was an amazingly coordinated drill ceremony. For just a sec I was "LovingAMarine".  Here's video.

And of course, when you're in a cool new town, your friends and family just have to come see it (er-I mean you and your family).  LOL So we have had our guests pop in already. My friend is here this weekend and we did a great overview tour on bikes. It was soooooo fun, especially with my daughter attached to my bike in a tandem bike. She loved it. I'm going to close with a couple pictures from that bike tour.

I promise I won't be a stranger quite so long next time. Enjoy the pictures, enjoy your new home, and enjoy your coming fall.

Hi Star. Headed to Virginia ourselves in a couple of months - Ft. Myer. We were just there this weekend from Ft. Bragg scanning out a place to live - we'll be residing in Fairfax. Fill me in on any "insider" tips you have, PLEASE! :-)

Add to your list of PCS tools www.militarymoveit.com! It is like a wedding planner but for your move instead. Take a tour at www.militarymoveit.com/tour.

Also if you liked the Marine Drill team and want to check out the Army version http://www.usarmyband.com/events/twilight_tattoo.html.
